Before the lesson: a one-minute check
Worth doing the day before, not five minutes before.
- Find Laura’s email with the link. For a weekly lesson it is the same link every week, so keep that email where you can find it.
- Plug in your headphones or earbuds. They cure echo before it starts.
- Plug the laptop into the mains. A 90-minute lesson flattens a battery.
- Click the link a few minutes early. If you land in the waiting room, you are in the right place.
- In the Teams app on a computer, you can test yourself: Settings and more (three dots, top right) → Settings → Devices → Make a test call. You record a sentence and it plays back.
How to tell Laura something mid-lesson
- Chat: on a computer, move the mouse and click Chat in the bar of meeting buttons. On a phone, tap the screen, then Chat at the top right. Type, press Enter.
- Raise your hand: click Raise in the same bar (older versions say Raise hand). On a phone it is under More → Reactions.
- Text her: the quickest when nothing else works — 07786 107293. She will see it between explanations.
- If her invitation shows a phone number and a Conference ID underneath the link, you can ring that number and join by phone, sound only.
